Look, Would I rather have 200 gram Quietex II Robert Ludwig cut lacquer stuck in laminated sleeve? Hell yes. But this is a 3-disc class Neil comp cut by Chris Bell on 140g for a reasonable price. My copy sounds really really good.
For those still looking to grab a copy at a reasonable price, Neil's site just released their left over RSD stock:
I know this comes across as a vinyl money grab, which it may well be, but I had to grab a clean copy. It does sound really good. The packaging is nice outside of the scratchy paper sleeves which will eat up your records if you keep them stored that way. The vinyl isn't 180 grams for those that care about such things, but more importantly it's a clean, quiet and flat pressing. It sounds so much better than the CD releases and so good that I moved my original copy of Decade in favor of this reissue.
One of the most mindless RSD Re-presses ever !!! A Shame. 100000 originals are circulating for fair and good prices. The MoneyMakingVinylTrain still rolling.. what idiots buy this for more than 20€ ???
I spun my mint original and compared it to this new reissue remastered by Chris Bellham. The new pressing is a solid improvement. Not that the original was bad...all Neil Young sounds pretty good, but this new one is the way to go.
Its a remaster, which sounds quite good. I'll assume you are reviewing this purely on paper, having not spun it at all.
Did anyone have an issue with getting two copies of Album 1 / Sides 1 & 2 instead of, and not, Album 2 / Sides 3 & 4?
I just did a straight swap with Artie (comment below) - so maybe put it out there to see if anyone else wants to trade or contact Record Store Day via their website -
I also received two copies of Album 1, and zero copies of Album 2. Trying to get it rectified but Warner Bros is not very responsive.
I got the opposite, I'm missing album one. And believe its album 2 that I got two of. Let me check when I get home and we may be able to help each other out.
No issues here with a duplicate disc. Sounds nice. I also replaced my inner sleeves.
I didn't have issues with duplicate discs as the first reviewer did. My pressings sounded nice, if a little bass heavy in parts, disappointingly came with scratchy paper inner sleeves requiring immediate replacement. Vinyl 140 gram weight.
My version came with (2) Album I, (1) Album III, and (0) Album II. It's not a misprint either, it was packaged with two identical versions of Album I and no Album II.
