Is there any difference in audio quality between the US and European pressings?
Fun fact: on the actual record, Dance Yrself Clean is misspelled as "Dance Yourself Clean".
Rolling Flipper
According to Many sources (such as Piccadilly Records, Rough Trade & Many Others...), The Long Goodbye will be getting a repress, aimed to release on the 16th of June. I'm not sure if this as well will be limited, but we'll see.
I managed to find a copy for Sale via, it arrived without a RSD sticker, but it did have a holographic warner sticker in it's place.I checked the web to buy a copy every hour for days as i live hundreds of kilometres from any record stores, some popped up and there was 5 left, after i finished checkout there was one, two minutes later they were all gone. Can anyone make proper sense of this ? Is mine not worth as much without the RSD sticker ? Are they going to sell more of these box sets and if so will they be in different packaging ?I want to open it and listen to it but i am scared to, if i can't get another copy again to keep for the future to open when i've worn out the copy i have. I like to have a listen copy and a sealed to listen to in 20 years copy of my favourite albums.....
im gonna take a guess the value stayed just fine lol
My best is guess is that's the EU release... Check the back of the box, does it have the dfa, Warner Bros. & Parlophone logos? Or just two? From what I gather these are still available second hand. US pressing imo is sold out and will not be repressed. Can't speak for the EU release which might have gotten a chunk more pressed. Either way, it's incredible and needs to be listened to by all. Open that thing up and play it!!! Who cares what it's worth... These pieces are meant to be played.
I just received a notification from Banquet Records that the RSD pressing has sold out, but they’re re-pressing a limited number of the box sets, expected to be released in Europe June 9th.
Comments posted by DFA Records on thier Facebook Page: "I was just told that all remaining copies of the box set are heading to us, so this won't be going to stores unless they are sitting on copies somehow."- "We have the same info as you. The only vinyl version planned thus far is the RSD version. It is sold out and will not be reprinted. The May release date is digital only, because we sold all remaining stock through the DFA Store."- "I think if we hadn't sold them out of box sets there may have been a physical release 5/20. There were only ~1000 of these made over both territories, as best I can reckon."
Little Devil
The non-RSD versions are for sale as of now (May 1st) in the EU. I managed to get one from a local record store and an online store that I use frequently has them in stock too. The only difference between the two versions is that there is no Record Store Day sticker on the shrinkwrap on this one.
Yes I asked DFA record, here's the answer : "There is only one version as far as I know. I believe they both have the sticker, honestly." So it's right, it's the same package, they just pre-sale 3000 copies for the RSD with a sticker.
No. I paid 90€ for the EU pressing. My Record dealer told me that it was 95 for the RSD 2014.
Well, i just bought the non-rsd version. Same bar code than the RSD. So… i guess it's not a limited edition. They just pre-sale 3000 copies for the RSD.
Price the same?
There are two versions released already... US & EU pressings. The US has the Warner Brothers emblem along with DFA & Parlophone emblems and says printed in USA while the EU only bears the emblems of DFA & Parlophone and says made in the E.U. The barcode numbers are the same but there are different catalog numbers. DFA2362LP & 1-541125 (K1). The Warner is also a little more thick and heavy than the DFA. I haven't seen the insides so I'm not sure if there are any differences on the sleeves or vinyl.
so this is it.. 3000 copies and digital release in may.. ?
The setup of the vinyl/sides is genius! I've been asking for this forever on all 2xlp's and so on. Obviously done this way because James thinks like a fan and DJ and wants his product to be played on two decks in the true "unabridged" form. Amazing release.
Does anyone know how many of these were made, or if there's a wider release of these on may 20th?
warner?.. parlophone?
its just digital in may. this 3000 is it.
ltd to 600 in the UK i read. discogs above says 3000 worldwide. it will come out again in May, presumably not limited in any meaningful way. I expect the price of the "second" version to be less than the RSD price.
Anyone know why the sides are out of order?ex. Disc 1 = Side A, Side C; Disc 2 = Side B, Side D, Disc 3 = Side E, Side H, etc?
It is set up that way so that the entire concert can be listened to continuously from side by side turntables. Thus no flipping.
If you had 2 turntables, you could keep the music going seamlessly. Que up the B side on TT2 while the A side is going on TT1, and so on.
It was pressed that way so you can play the whole thing on a two turntable DJ setup without the pause to flip over the record.
Tyler Is Not Here
I think they're out of order so if you have 2 decks you can listen to it seamlessly, that's the conclusion I've come to anyway!
It's so you can listen to it in a continuous mix with two turntables plus a mixer. Pretty neat.
Its a bit confusing isn't it? I thought it was a mistake initially but its noted that way on the inner sleeves too, I have no idea why it was cut like this.
The Rollers of Vildar
is anyone else having problems with the download on this one?
I read somewhere that the download card stated that the download wouldn't be available until the general release on May 20th.
Yep, site is not available.
Thanks guys, I thought that was referenced to the standard download only. I guessed that but wanted someone elses opinion.
It's not available until May at some point, which is what it says on the download card!
The little card with download code states that it will be available 5/20.
you have to wait until May 20th.
