Kim discovered Photography in High School and was encouraged by her Art teacher to apply for the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. One of only 30 students accepted from over 3000 applicants, Kim completed her three year Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1989 before soon deciding to move to London with her brother to pursue her Photographic career.
Working as a Photographer’s assistant by day and with access to a studio, Kim began shooting her own portraits. During the Brit Pop explosion of the early Nineties, Kim was recommended to various Music magazines and after a year began working for both German and UK Music Magazines such as Melody Maker and Siren. Commissions soon started to snowball after her photos were noticed by music industry PR departments, Record Companies and Band Managers.
In 1994 Kim shot her first Album Cover – “Up To Our Hips” by the Charlatans and in 1995 Toured with Oasis, Blur and Paul Weller. From 1996-1998, Kim was one of the Main Photographers for ‘Dj’, ‘Muzik’ & ‘Guitar World’ Magazines. The New York based Guitar World commissioned Kim to photograph artists from Bill Wyman and John Paul Jones to Led Zeppelin.
After over 8 years living in London, Kim decided to move home to Australia in 1999. Kim is now a Freelance Photographer in Melbourne, working for a variety of clients including Rolling Stone Magazine & various Australia Record Companies. Australian artists shot by Kim include John Butler, The Whitlams, Sleepy Jackson, The Living End, The Presets and The Veronicas.
