With over a decade of experience working within the music industry in various roles including time as a sound engineer, Melbourne based Kane Hibberd found a need to satisfy his creativity prompting a move into the world of professional music photography. Now with five years experience behind the camera, Kane has established himself as a key photographer in the Australian music scene.
Having returned to study in his late twenties, Kane completed a Bachelor of Photography at the prestigious RMIT University in 2008 whilst simultaneously shooting some of Australia’s best-known bands.
Clients currently include EMI / Virgin Music, Universal music, Eleven, Liberation music, Sony and ACP publishing.
Regularly shooting commissioned work for music publications such as Rolling Stone, Jmag, Blunt and Street Press Australia, he has also worked for top International and Australian artists such as Sneaky Sound System, The Cat Empire, The Living End, Fallout Boy and Panic! At the Disco. He also works as the official Photographer for Australia’s touring Soundwave Festival.
Primarily focussing his talent on music portraiture, Kane uses a combination of technical skill, imagination and digital post production techniques to produce captivating, inventive and emotive images that manage to avoid the typical clichés rife throughout the industry.
